A bit of Perspective

A bit of perspective…

Maybe as mothers we think we should do something big for or with our kids everyday. We put pressure on ourselves to achieve what we think “others” can achieve but we just struggle with… but, can I tell you something? your kids are YOURS. God gave them to YOU either by birth or by the guidance of the Holy Spirit; there is no one else they call “Mum”… so instead of achieving the “big” things these Holidays that are getting to the end, maybe all they need is just YOU… not the “busy” “I-can’t-right-now” you, but YOU, stopping for a minute and spend time with them: talking to them, playing with them… serving them.

Yes, our lifes as mother is a Mission of Service. Have you ever thought about it? We wash clothes, plates, floors and toilets. We organise, plan, and schedule. We source ingredients, cook and feed. We change vulnerable people’s clothes, change their nappies, wash their hands 1000 times a day and bath/shower them…

We also kiss, hug, cuddle and laught… we love, love a bit more and love 10 times as much… and we receive it back.

But no matter what our task is the reward it’s not here. Our reward is in heaven.

God sees your service… and I truly believe he gives us a glimpse of what’s to come in that moment when your baby cuddles into your chest and closes their eyes in the comfort of your arms… or in that moment when your toddler smiles or laughs hard because of something completely silly… or when your high school age teenager just sits next to you for a while just because you are you, their mum.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven”
Matthew 5, 12.

Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God”
1 Corinthians 10, 31

Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ.”
Colossians 3:23-24

So like I said, a bit of perspective can help us go through life, because God is in every bit of it.

God bless you
